Notes : The name of the author has many different spellings (or misspellings): the first edition had "by Captain C. Deveureux of the General Staff", the French (including the Bibliothèque Nationale) prefer to use Charles Devereux, but modern English publications use Charles Devereaux.

First French translation published as: C. These days, the usual French title is Vénus indienne, par/by Charles Devereux. The second part of Venus in India has been translated as: Mes Amours sous les déodars.
